Experts can make or break a case.

This program focuses on litigation strategy involving expert witnesses: working with experts to add value to your case and aid in litigation strategy, as well as how to turn your opponent’s expert into your own through effective cross-examination.

This TLA special program will be led by David Rudolf, criminal defense and civil rights lawyer featured in Netflix’s hit The Staircase and civil rights and criminal defense lawyer Sonya Pfeiffer.  Sonya is also an award-winning journalist who covered the real-life trial behind The Staircase.

Join us in-person in the TLA Lounge. Learn new skills. Meet the speakers.  Make new friends and catch up with colleagues.  Light refreshments will be served.

Speakers

Sonya Pfeiffer, Counsel, Brauti Thorning LLP

Sonya Pfeiffer is a skilled communicator who vigorously represents her clients at all stages of litigation.  She successfully advises clients in complex, high conflict matters and specializes in handling well publicized cases that often draw media attention. Pfeiffer began her career as a public defender in the US, then transitioned to a large corporate law firm where she handled white collar criminal matters, civil litigation and pro bono death penalty work.  In addition to her legal experience, Pfeiffer is an award-winning journalist and documentary filmmaker.

David Rudolf, Counsel, Brauti Thorning LLP

David Rudolf has enjoyed a storied career as a litigator in the United States, where he has been named as one of the Best Lawyers in America for more than 25 consecutive years.   In addition to representing business executives, professionals, athletes and politicians in federal white-collar investigations and prosecutions, he has successfully represented individuals charged with capital murder and other serious felonies in the state courts.   Rudolf has also secured favorable verdicts and settlements in high-stakes civil litigation.   On behalf of his clients in cases involving the abuse of power against individual citizens, Rudolf has secured verdicts and settlements of more than $100 million. Most recently, Rudolf received world-wide acclaim for his representation of Michael Peterson in the documentary, The Staircase, on Netflix, and has lectured about that case throughout the world.

Sonya and David are co-hosts of Abuse of Power, a Webby Award winning podcast that spotlights injustices in the criminal legal system.
