Each year the Toronto Lawyers Association takes great pleasure in highlighting outstanding contributions to our legal community and the community at large by presenting three awards at our Annual Awards Gala.

Nominate a Toronto lawyer for the 2025 TLA Emerging Excellence Award

The TLA Emerging Excellence Award is presented to a Toronto lawyer in practice for 10 years or less or a Toronto organization in existence for 10 years or less who/that exemplifies leadership or innovation in advancing the TLA’s three pillars of knowledge, advocacy and community.


Nominate a mid-career Toronto lawyer for the 2025 Honsberger Award

The Honsberger Award is presented to a mid-career Toronto lawyer or Toronto organization in recognition of a single unique accomplishment or ongoing contributions to the legal community and the community at large, exemplifying the TLA’s three pillars of knowledge, advocacy and community.

The Award of Distinction

The TLA Award of Distinction is awarded in recognition of the recipient's lifetime contribution to the integrity and worth of the law. He or she is recognized for individual excellence and outstanding achievements, as well as his or her dedication to the Toronto community, legal and at large. The recipient is chosen by the TLA Board of Directors.

The Honsberger Award

In honour of John D. Honsberger, Past President and published historian of our association, this award recognizes a single unique accomplishment or ongoing contributions to our legal community exemplifying the TLA’s three pillars: Knowledge, Advocacy and Community, by a Toronto lawyer in practice between fifteen and twenty-five years.

The TLA Emerging Excellence Award

The TLA Emerging Excellence Award is presented to a Toronto lawyer in practice for 10 years or less or Toronto organization in existence for 10 years or less who/that exemplifies leadership or innovation in advancing the TLA’s three pillars of Knowledge, Advocacy and Community.
