This two-session program reviews the basics of advocacy before the Court of Appeal for Ontario. Each session will be led by two judges of the Court of Appeal, Justice David Brown and Justice Grant Huscroft. Although open to all lawyers, the program is meant to be of particular use to younger members of the Bar with up to 15 years’ experience.

The program is limited to 50 participants and registration includes both sessions of the program.
Each session will consist of two parts:
The topics for the April 13 workshop include: Making the decision to appeal; Initiating the appeal; The Appeal Record and Fresh Evidence; Motions; and Costs.
The May 26 session will focus on written and oral advocacy, as well as providing attendees with an understanding of how judges prepare for oral hearings and what they expect from oral hearings.
